Wedding Photography at Shottle Hall

Hello there dear readers! If you’re here, you’re no doubt interested to see what a wedding day at Shottle Hall looks like from my point of view, from the behind the camera. Thank you for looking. This blog post shows you some highlights from Helen & Mark’s wedding day in February which, as you will see, was absolutely beautiful…

The day started with photographs of the stunning grounds at Shottle Hall and Mark and his groomsmen were keen to have a glass of malt during their card game. Very ‘groomsmen’ behaviour and I must admit, it did make for some cool photographs.

Relaxed wedding photography, with style

As you can see, we did like a wedding portrait or two. I mean, your wedding day is when you look at your absolute best… beautiful dress, sharp suit so why not make the most of these opportunities and get some lovely portraits. These are not for everyone, but I’m going to be honest with you now, these types of photographs take very little time and we have fun creating them. Honestly, you’ll see… there’s nothing to it! Most of the bridal and groom ‘prep’ stuff is candid and natural anyway and I keep a low profile in general, picking my moments because there’s no need for me to be in your face all morning!

Mark and Helen looked beautiful didn’t they? It was an emotional entrance for Helen to meet her groom. I loved the high-five moments between this very close family.

Natural Wedding Photography Moments

After the ceremony there was a lovely moment between the newlyweds in front of the iconic barn doors. It’s too hard to resist photographs with this cool Shottle backdrop.

Just going back to the ceremony… there were so many moments to capture, the love in the room was clear to see and it made for a beautiful collection of very natural wedding photographs.

During the speeches, Mark explained how he’d treated his fiancé to film nights and that formed a really important part of their chill time together. The tables were named after their favourites and decorations looked ccolourful, bright and fun.

We did the group and family photographs indoors because of the time of year (it was a bit cold) much to the delight of the wedding party and the reception room was so beautiful and offered a perfect photographic setting so being inside was no imposition at all.

Great Wedding Entertainment

As we moved into the evening celebrations, we enjoyed the brilliance of Laurence Marshall’s One Man Band and the evening guests arrived. The first dance was beautiful with the lovely warm tones in the background - I love that lighting (bit of a photography geek-out, sorry!).

Before the evening was over, there was chance for another portrait in front of the tropical plants which we all thought were pretty cool looking and added lovely colour.

I was extremely happy with the day and I know that Helen and Mark were…they gave me a great review…

“Christian did an amazing job at our wedding, he was recommended through a friend and now we’re highly recommending him to anyone needing a photographer.
All of our photos were fantastic and he goes to the next level in getting the photos you require, for us that included laying in mud on a damp day to get the right picture, nothing is to much trouble.
A 5 star service from a 5 star guy …”
