Laura and Dan's Chequers Woolsthorpe Wedding

A Wild, Wonderful and Beautiful Wedding Celebration at The Chequers Inn Woolsthorpe

What a party! I was supposedly at work while photographing this absolutely EPIC wedding party but it didn’t feel like work. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I put in a shift but I had ‘an absolute blast’ to use a heavily-noughties phrase. Laura and Dan were HUGELY adamant that I enjoyed myself and I DID! I doubt that The Chequers Woolsthorpe has EVER witnessed a better party! It can’t have done.

My day started, as it most often does, with bridal preparations, photographing all those important bridal details and the skilled finishing touches of hair and make up artists. Speaking of hair… Dan owns an absolutely top class hair salon in Radcliffe-on-Trent at the renowned Koppa Hair Salon Hair Salon in Radcliffe-on-Trent | Koppa Bespoke Hairdressing Nottingham (koppahairdressing.co.uk) so we had the perfect venue for the prep! The lovely Millie was in charge of hair and make up and she latterly joined her colleague Dan and her friend Laura at the wedding party.

Then off to The Chequers Woolsthorpe to meet Dan, the groom and his groomsmen. I love using window light for simple but downright effective portraits. I’m always looking for these little portrait gems to add to the candid, documentary photographs of the day’s events. How cool does Dan look here. Well, this couple are model material so it’s no wonder they look great.

Laura, the beautiful bride arrived in an absolutely gorgeous vintage car (who goes by the name Mabel, supplied by Camper Van Wedding Hire) with the convertible top down, taking in the warm August air and we had time for a few all-important pre-wedding photographs with proud-as-punch dad.

Wedding Day Emotions…

Of course, as a wedding photographer, I’m always looking for those moments of memorable emotion and the wonderful Dan did not disappoint. It’s that moment, that realization of what is about to happen. You’re about to be married! To be honest, I know what these emotions are myself - in a second us men can go from laughter to welling up. I empathise with you Dan, my friend!

The newlyweds left the room to rapturous applause and a few more emotive tears and then I love capturing these post-ceremony moments - the congratulatory hugs, kisses and smiles. They’ve done it! They’re married! Spilling out into the gorgeous, beautifully-planted, private garden at The Chequers with glimpses through the summer lupins of the famous and iconic Belvoir Castle in the distance.

Vale of Belvoir Weddngs

There’s always time for a few bride and groom portraits and the grounds at The Chequers give plenty of options with large, open skies and sprawling fields, looking into the Vale of Belvoir countryside.

SURELY, THE BEST PARTY EVER AT THE CHEQUERS WOOLSTHORPE!

Right… the evening party… like I say, absolutely EPIC! So much for me to capture, all the emotion, wild joy, beautiful colours and brilliant music by the superb duo Thomas and Nathan Colour Blue whose live music really got the party started and kept it going and they were joined by the outstanding Johhnny Ross Music on saxophone.

I’ll let the photographs do the rest of the talking though because, from this small selection, you’ll get the idea. First dances are always a lovely moment but this one was extra special - energy and passion to burn! You’ve got to love the daughter-dad dances too!
