Langar Hall Wedding Photography
A wedding at the absolutely stunning St. Mary’s Church in the Leicestershire village of Bottesford, followed by celebrations at the iconic and beautiful Langar Hall in nearby Nottinghamshire. Two finer venues for a wedding, you would struggle to find in the country, let alone in the county. I’m so lucky that these stunning buildings end up being my office for the day!
I had the absolute pleasure of being Cynthia & Peter’s wedding photographer on this gorgeous autumn day in the Vale of Belvoir. The lovely couple live just around the corner from me and they asked me to photograph their wedding after a face-to-face meeting and a really nice chat their plans for the day. I explained that my photography is mainly a documentary approach but I really like to create some striking and impressive bride and groom portraits of time permits and the bride and groom are willing!
Bridal & Groomsmen Preparations
I started my day at Peter’s house, a stones throw away in the next Vale of Belvoir village to mine! Because we were so close, I had the chance to spend time with the groom and groomsmen first, capturing the nervous speech rehearsals and excited chats about what the day would hold. Usually, we I need to work with a second photographer to achieve both bridal and groom preparations but because I was so very local to both the couple’s house and the guesthouse where Cynthia was getting ready, I was able to easily cover both - the bonus of my being a local Leicestershire wedding photographer.
Bridal preparations were underway when I arrived at the Paddock Bed & Breakfast at Peacock Farm, Redmile near Belvoir Castle. Excitement filled the air as the hour drew near. The beautiful flowers arrived much to the excitement of the bridal party. Even the lovely donkeys at the farm were interested in the hair stylist’s and make up artist’s lovely work so I grabbed a few photographs of the lovely onlookers.
The St. Mary’s Church, Bottesford Wedding Ceremony
This wedding was always going to special. A true party celebration with dancing and lovely tuneful singing filling the stunning, historic and beautiful church. If you haven’t seen the magnificent St. Mary’s, I’d definitely recommend a visit. Even the Peregrine Falcons think its beautiful enough to make it their home.
The vows were heartfelt, full of belief in Christian faith and a worshipful atmosphere - celebrating marriage in the sight of and with the blessing of God. Very special. I love capturing the newly-wed bride and groom coming back down the aisle to rapturous applause of the congregation - such joy and happiness on display.
After the wedding ceremony we took the time with the sun behind the clouds (perfect!) to take some of the family group photographs and all the hugs, smiles and congratulations as Cynthia and Peter were greeted and congratulated by their friends and family.
The Wedding Reception, Langar Hall, Nottingham
The speeches were brilliant. Meaningful. In parts, hilarious. A perfect blend for a series of wedding speeches with so much emotion to capture and enjoy. I really enjoyed capturing all the smiles, laughter and emotion.
The food? Oh the food! Absolutely delicious. That’s what we’ve come to expect from the wonderful Langer Hall. And after the food? The dancing, the partying, the let-the-hair-down moments! Amazing dancing in the hall with colour, humour and relaxed fun which I was able to capture and include in the wedding gallery. I think that these elements are really important aspects of wedding photography because you’ll look back at the fun and happiness during the latter parts of the evening very fondly indeed.
I do really love to capture the dance floor action. Today’s wedding was treated to a dancing feast! I was there to enjoy it.
