A New beginning for Gibbon Bridge Weddings!

Can I get married at The Gibbon Bridge Hotel? (Photography Highlights below!)

I’m a wedding photographer and I recently decided that I needed to show off one of my beautiful weddings at the famous Gibbon Bridge Hotel in Chipping in The Ribble Valley in Lancashire. There is only one problem with this marketing strategy of mine… The wonderful Gibbon Bridge Hotel closed in November 2025!

Are you looking for your perfect wedding photographer in the Bowland Fells?

Why has the venue closed?

After 43 years of trading, Janet Simpson is handing over the venue to a new owner after 43 years of successful ownership. Now in her 80s, Janet has decided to let the venue continue into a new chapter, under new ownershop.

Why do I like this venue?

It’s position is everything! Surrounded by rolling hills in the famous and beautiful Bowland Fells, The Gibbon Bridge was that countryside venue that offered the scenery, the relaxed countryside, holiday feeling. That’s why the news of the plans for the new version of this venue is great!

Gibbon Bridge has a separate bridal apartment and three function rooms and includes a bar and restaurant, conservatory, orangery, BBQ facilities, garden bandstand, tennis court and staff accommodation.

What are the plans for the reopening?

It has been announced that the nine-acre site will become Bowland House - a luxury health and wellness retreat with boutique hotel run by Lisa Dunnington, co-owner of H&S Restaurants. Exciting times ahead for this wonderful wedding venue in one of the most beautifully scenic spots in the north west of England.

When will The Gibbon Bridge reopen?

We’ve got a bit of a wait until The Gibbon Bridge reopens after exciting renovation plans. The reopening will happen in 2029 and the venue will be renamed as Bowland House. I’m sure it will be worth the wait!

What other wedding venues are there? What are my Lancashire countryside, wedding venue alternatives?

For other countryside retreat venues, here are a some of my personal favourites - those I’ve been too for weddings or dining in style.

Another of my favourite venues, which has recently enjoyed a revamp and lots of investment is formerly known as Ferrari’s Country House Hotel. The new and impressively refurbished version has been transformed into Longridge House. It is well worth a look and you can see more about it here on their beautiful website.
